project no.1: pavillion
the intention has always been to build this with a shipping container at the heart of its structure. cheap, recycled, airtight and waterproof there doesn't appear to be a cheaper way to provide the structure. It should also be easy to insulate, easy to punch windows/doors into and easy to hide externally behind some western red cedar. It should also be easy to cover it in an accessible green roof (and put a hot tub up there?!?).
finally it should be possible to design in a manner that allows it to be "mobile" and therefore escape planning consent.
short of something to do for 10 minutes at lunch i found these other interesting projects made using shipping containers.
